Combining Natural & Industrial Materials

At Anji Guyou Furniture, we specialize in marrying different material palettes to create distinctive furniture. For our bar tables, we source sustainably managed wood for the tops and process it in our dedicated wood workshop, where it is kiln-dried, planed, and sanded to a smooth finish. The iron bases are fabricated in our metal shop, where steel is cut, welded, ground smooth, and sent for finishing (powder coating or electroplating). Our 6S management ensures separation and cleanliness between the wood and metal processes to avoid contamination. The final assembly involves securely bolting the wood top to the metal base, creating a piece built to last.

Material Selection Guidance

Wood Types: Acacia is hard, durable, and has a prominent grain; Rubberwood is a sustainable, dense hardwood with a consistent color; Oak is very strong with a classic grain. All wood is kiln-dried to 8-12% moisture content.

Finishes: Polyurethane lacquer provides a hard, waterproof barrier. Natural oil (like tung or linseed) penetrates the wood, enhancing grain but requiring more maintenance. 

Iron base: Available in cast iron (heavy and highly decorative) or welded steel tubing/plates (lighter and more modern).

Powder coating: Dry powder is applied to the surface electrostatically and then heated to cure, forming a strong and durable coating.

For oiled finishes, occasional re-oiling (once or twice a year) with the recommended product will maintain the protection and appearance. Always use placemats or trivets for hot items.
  • Q: Is the table stable, or does it wobble?
  • A: Our tables are designed and manufactured for stability. The iron base is heavy and the connection to the top is reinforced. However, minor wobble can occur if the floor is uneven. Most bases have adjustable leveling glides on the feet to compensate for uneven floors; simply turn the glide to stabilize the table.
  • Q: Can the table be used outdoors?
  • A: Standard finishes are for indoor use. For outdoor use (e.g., on a covered patio), we require specification of an exterior-grade wood (like teak) and a special outdoor-grade powder coat or galvanized finish on the base. Please inquire about our outdoor furniture line.
  • Q: What is the lead time for custom sizes or wood types?
  • A: Lead time for custom tables (non-standard diameter, wood species, or finish) is typically 6-8 weeks after order confirmation, as it involves custom cutting, finishing, and drying processes. MOQ usually applies.
